(...) The vineyard of this small village of Bordeaux gained a reputation with this undeniable Latin poet, born in Bordeaux and wine lover. It also said that the Château is situated on a very old cemetery of Saint-Emilion. Anyway, it is sure that Château Ausone enjoys a unique soil and a very special history. Its clay, its geographical location and its climate allows this grand cru classé of Saint-Emilion to be one of the most famous wines of Bordeaux. Since the arrival of Alain Vauthier, co-director and estate’s owner since 1997, Château Ausone has regained all its nobility. With care and a very high demand, he allows the Château Ausone’s wines to offer a strong tannic structure, combining with finesse, balance, richness and elegance. Originating from old vines (over 50 years), the wines offer a keeping potential from 50 to 100 years. It should be noted that the wine reach its maturity after two decades.
